Wonder Works -Branson, Missouri

Located in Branson, Missouri, is an amusement park for the mind. Wonder Works is 48,000 square feet of “edu-tainment”. “On a remote island in the Bermuda Triangle, a top-secret research laboratory was led by Professor Wonder. While he was working on an experiment to harness the power of a tornado, something went terribly wrong. The wind grew more robust than expected! Professor Wonder tried to stop the investigation, but the swirling vortex spun out of control and was too strong to be contained. The power of the tornado was unleashed into the laboratory. The mighty cyclone ripped the building from its foundation. The tornado carried the lab hundreds of miles away, where it finally landed upside-down”(Wonder Works, 2021). In order to participate in the fun, you must enter the building and then step inside the inversion tunnel to be turned right side up. It all sounds a little crazy, but the attraction combines education and entertainment with more than 100 hands-on exhibits.

They also offer STEM days, sensory days, and art contests. Plan your family reunion there or a military reunion. Inside the lab, hold on tight as you experience powerful hurricane-force winds or feel the cold waters of the North Atlantic when the Titanic sank, causing one of the most devastating disasters in modern history. Lay on a bed of nails or investigate the Tesla Coil. And this is just the tip of the Iceberg. We really loved striking a pose and learning about Phosphorescence and the shadow wall. The secret to this exhibit is the wall you pose in front of. When you stand directly in front of the wall, and the flash appears, the portion of the wall that your body is covering is unable to absorb light—leaving your shadow. We also had fun pretending to be astronauts, making large bubbles in the bubble lab, and then resting in the arcade at the end while our kiddos continued to have a blast.
