Voyagers Restaurant

Marty and I were down in Orange Beach, Alabama, a few months ago for a business trip, and we stopped in to see our favorite realtor Bob Shallow at Remax Paradise. Bob and his wife Susan have been working and living on the Gulf Coast for more than forty years, so we knew that he would be the best person to ask where we should eat lunch. He gave us his top six picks.

  1. Voyagers at the Perdido Beach Resort
  2. Fishers
  3. Local and Company in Foley, Alabama
  4. Jessie’s
  5. Villaggio’s at The Wharf
  6. Cobalt’s

From that day, it was on! Marty and I were on a mission to go to every restaurant on Bob’s list. It took a few months, but we are happy to report that we have finally made it to all of them. This past weekend we ended the list with a bang at Voyagers restaurant—an upscale restaurant located at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach.

We arrived at the resort with complimentary parking. We headed inside to dine, passing through the lovely lobby where piano music was being played. We would have loved to stay for a while there just relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere, but we had food to meet.

As we entered the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised at the serene décor and view of the water. A picture-perfect place to enjoy a lovely sunset with a glass of Rosé in hand. We began our meal with the Local Cheese & Charcuterie Board.

The chef selected cured & smoked meats, Alecia’s tomato chutney, Marcona almonds, house mustard, and sweet home farm cheese. For the entrée, Marty ordered the Gulf Grouper with garlic baby spinach, cast-iron Jerusalem sunchokes & fingerling potatoes with Meyer lemon gastrique. Her husband enjoyed the Seared Yellowfin Tuna with crisp chili cauliflower, mushrooms, cabbage, and ginger yuzu syrup.

While it was delicious, it does come rare, so let them know if you have a different preference. I ordered the Chicken Fried Shrimp while my daughter ordered the Filet Mignon, both with baked potatoes. Finish it off with dessert if you desire; they have a fine selection from which to choose.

Bread pudding to chocolate cake is on the list. Unfortunately, we were too stuffed to find out. Next time though, dessert and Piano music sounds like a plan for a nice dinner as well. Voyagers is located in Orange Beach at the Perdido beach resort. Check out their website for hours. And if you are looking for a great meal, you can review all of Bob’s six picks on our blog.
