The Wash House Restaurant

The Wash House restaurant is my favorite restaurant in Fairhope, Alabama. This restaurant is excellent for a romantic dinner. My husband and I make a reservation for this restaurant for Valentine’s Day and our wedding anniversary. And of course, I always love to eat here on my birthday. This year was no different. I thought about several other restaurants but did not want to miss the fantastic food. The decor is rustic barn house chic. “Fine, locally sourced coastal cuisine in a rustic, fine dining atmosphere” as stated on the website.

The staff was friendly, and our waitress was terrific and very knowledgeable about the extensive wine menu. My husband ordered the catch of the day, which was grouper with green beans and tomato rice. He shared a bite with me, and it was delicious. As you may have figured out about me through reading our blog, I am not a huge red meat eater. I like it but in small amounts. But this restaurant is the exception. I LOVE the Chateaubriand. The dish is served medium rare with asparagus and truffled-gouda mashed potatoes. The Chateaubriand melts in your mouth. I can not stress enough how delicious this dish is. My mouth is watering just writing about it.

As always, I left highly satisfied. Reservations are highly recommended. We arrived early, but the place filled up fast. Parking is limited around the restaurant, but they have additional parking available a few minutes walk down the road. For more restaurant reviews, follow the Travel section of our Blog.
