The Tin Top Restaurant and Oyster Bar-Bon Secour, Alabama

Located in a charming little fishing village on the Bon Secour River is a restaurant known as the pearl of Bon Secour. Like an oyster, which is not shiny on the outside, this jewel cannot truly be appreciated until you discover the inside. And the inside of The Tin Top Restaurant is full of the best mouth-watering and flavorful seafood that I have tried anywhere on the Gulf Coast. I was truly impressed with the gumbo because when you order a cup, you get a bowl; when you order a bowl, you get enough for three.

The Tin Top Restaurant

This was meant to be, according to management, so that no one ever leaves hungry, just like in the old days when fishermen arrived during their work hours for a hearty meal before they returned to the gulf to continue their hard day’s work. The owners are truly serious about great-tasting food! This is a great place to go on a nice day to get out for a drive or just to wind down after a day at the beach. My husband and I really had a feast here with crab cake appetizers, Greek salad, spinach salad with shrimp added, and, oh yeah, that delicious gumbo. And as you can see, the bowl was not filled with just rice. It was 100 percent yummy in that bowl! Lastly, we finished it off with a Crème Brulé.

Both of us agreed that we would return to the Tin Top. They have so many dishes that we would like to try. From oysters, pasta, and steak to lobster bisque and west indies salad. It seems we could not go wrong with any of our choices at this restaurant and oyster bar. Located at 6232 Bon Secour Hwy-County Rd 10, in Bon Secour, AL. 36511.
