The Sugar Kettle Restaurant- Daphne, Alabama

The Sugar Kettle, located off Highway 64 in Daphne, Alabama, is an amazing find. The first thing you notice as you approach the building is the rather large Kettle appearing fountain situated right in front of the old home, originally built around 1937—currently a Baldwin County Historic landmark. The cafĂ© started as a hobby for the owner, Michelle Young. And since then, the business has grown into a very popular location. Marty and I stopped by for lunch and enjoyed a home-cooked meal. I ordered the meatloaf with a side order of fried okra and broccoli salad. Marty tried the country-fried steak with black-eyed peas and a side salad. Both are Sugar Kettle favorites. Marty’s husband had the turkey sandwich on wheat with a side of chips.

The meal was not complete until we tried the homemade peach cobbler with ice cream on the side. I am certain we might have cheated on our fitness journey plans today. (You can follow Our Fitness Journey here). But we sure enjoyed our visit. We were happy to learn that the restaurant offers many accommodations, such as catering for any special event. They will even deliver and put food into your own dishes! They offer frozen casseroles to go. I think I may take them up on that for sure. For home-cooked casseroles and sides or a game day menu, The Sugar Kettle is a great choice, in our opinion. They do get very busy for lunch, so we suggest you arrive early. This establishment is handicapped-accessible. Located at 1015 Daphne Ave, Daphne, AL 36526. For more Keeping It Local and Travel articles, please visit our blog or follow us on Facebook.
