The Loft Restaurant – Zionsville, Indiana

If you are interested in Slow food and in visiting one of Indianapolis’s top 25 restaurants, then look no further than The Loft at Trader’s Point Restaurant. It even has the Snail of Approval if you are familiar with the Slow Movement. The restaurant is in a vintage barn, one of several located on the property, and there seems to be no end to the many awards that this place has won.

We know why after our last visit. Its mission is to farm in harmony with the land and the animals and to produce the most nutritious and healthful product possible. They promote local food and sustainable farming and reconnect farmers and consumers. It is family owned and 100% grass-fed farm, handcrafted creamery, and farmstead restaurant, and it is Indiana’s first USDA-certified organic dairy. On our recent trip, we stopped by and had the best time wandering in the garden.

Not only was it beautiful, but we understood that what we were looking at was going to be on our plates inside. For starters, we could not pass up the yeast rolls with spiced butter and sea salt. Can you believe I ordered the salmon, and it was amazing? I love how it was presented with cut flowers. Marty’s husband had the same, while my daughter ordered the steak and spinach. And Marty ordered something unique, the Mangalitsa Bucatini.

If you arrive at the right time, you can watch them milk the cows. They even produce cream line milk, cheeses, and ice cream from organic, 100% grass-fed, non-homogenized milk, and they package their products in glass bottles and jars. Trader’s Point Creamery is a wonderful place to visit if you happen to be near Indianapolis. It is located at 9101 Moore Road in Zionsville, Indiana.
