Post 199 Restaurant and Bar

Located in Fairhope, Alabama, on beautiful Mobile Bay is a wonderful place called the American Legion. Post 199 is a military veteran organization that is open to the public. They invite you to please drop by and check out their activities, music offerings, and other facilities like The Hall, beach, and Tiki Bar. The beach stage is available for rentals as well.

We have been too fun children’s birthday parties on the bay where the kiddos can swim, walk out on the pier or play with friends, and just last weekend, we had a great time at a Luau, which was a fantastic experience. There was a Hawaiian fire dancer and live hula girls. They taught the girls some new dances while the guys shook their bottoms to the sounds of Hawaii and Tahiti.

The food was catered by L.A. BBQ of Robertsdale and was delicious! Sometimes, my daughter and I enjoy going for a long walk around Fairhope with friends, around town, and then along the bay, down to the Fairhope Pier, and then along the bay to the American Legion. It is a good pit stop to rest for a few minutes after a long walk and grab a cold drink. The current location used to reside in the three-story, 100-year-old wooden building located on the lot, but Hurricane Sally has heavily damaged it. They are in the process of building a new house and raising money for it. If you would like to drop by, you can grab a drink, make a donation and see pictures of the projected plan for the new house. It will have a wrap-around porch with a great view.

I really enjoy supporting our veterans, and it is just a great place to visit with a lot of wonderful nice people. We have always been greeted with smiles and laughter and have always left there feeling better than when we arrived. You can find the American Legion Post 199 on Facebook. There you can see all of the current events, concerts and contact information. For more Keeping It Local, please follow us on our blog.
