Gambino’s

Gambino’s, located in Fairhope, Alabama, has been a local tradition for over thirty years. Established in 1975 by Rick and Gari Gambino, the Gambino Family continues to offer the very best in Italian classics, seafood, steaks, entertainment, and atmosphere just steps from Mobile Bay. I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a little girl. Now, Marty and I have visited several times over the past few weeks, once to enjoy dinner with the live music that is offered in the bar on Saturdays and Wednesdays nights beginning at 6:30 pm and another time to celebrate a family birthday. The salad here is freshly made and topped with their house salad dressing, a local favorite.

To begin, we tried the crab claw appetizer and the Trio Combo; this is for when you can’t decide or you would like a little taste of everything. Crab claws are local favorites, and the delicious combination of fried Mozzarella/Provolone cheese sticks, fried mushrooms, and Calamari cannot be beaten! For meat lovers, our table enjoyed the steak and shrimp. The shrimp can come fried or grilled.

I enjoyed the Eggplant Parmigiana. It is one of my favorite Italian dishes. It comes oven-baked, lightly breaded with Romano and Mozzarella cheese, and is served over pasta. My dad enjoyed the manicotti, a delicious pair of ricotta cheese-filled rolled pasta topped with house-made marinara and toasted mozzarella. (Not pictured here).

For dessert, we tried the Spumoni, which is an Italian ice cream trio of almond, cherry, and pistachio-topped whipped cream. My mom had Mamma’s Bread Pudding. This is Gambino’s original homemade pecan bread pudding, white chocolate chips, topped with bourbon sauce. My daughter ordered the Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake. A creamy lemon cheesecake topped with blueberries and brown sugar crumbs atop a cookie-based crust.

Gambino offers exceptional event space for private occasions. They host wedding rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, birthday parties, anniversary parties, and Christmas parties. The Bayview Room overlooking Mobile Bay is a perfect location. Gambino’s does not allow reservations except for large parties, so we suggest arriving early. They are open 7 days a week, only for dinner. But they do stay open late so you can enjoy the music. The restaurant is located at 18 Laurel Ave. in Fairhope, Alabama. They are also highly rated on trip advisor. For more keeping it local articles, please follow us here on our blog.
