Desoto Falls Alabama

DeSoto Falls is a popular and tall waterfall located in Alabama, named after the Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto. It is situated off Lookout Mountain Parkway and is part of DeSoto State Park, which is located near Mentone, Alabama. The waterfall is 107 feet tall and is accessible via a paved pathway that leads to the railed overlook. Visitors can see the historic A.A. Miller Dam and the upper falls, regardless of their abilities, but the lower or main waterfall requires a walk down 50 concrete stairs to reach the overlook.

The DeSoto Falls Picnic Area is open daily during daylight hours and provides visitors with access to picnic tables, stand grills, restrooms, the DeSoto Falls viewing overlook, a small boat ramp, and the scenic West Fork of Little River for boating, swimming, and fishing. The area also offers access to the West Fork of Little River, over 35 miles of trails, and more waterfalls in the main park area of DeSoto State Park, which is located 7 miles away from the DeSoto Falls area.
