Dawson’s on Maine -Speedway, Indiana

Recently we took a summer vacation to Indianapolis, and who can resist the town of Speedway, Indiana? It is there that the most famous Speedway in all the country exists, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We visited the Speedway Museum that day for a lovely tour, and then after we were done, we crossed the street for a nice lunch on Main Street at a family-owned restaurant named Dawson’s on Maine. The Hill family opened Dawson’s on Main in June of 2006 on the newly renovated street in the heart of Speedway, Indiana.

They offer a wide variety of choices on their menu, from great steaks, fresh seafood, local craft beers, and the best Hoosier tenderloin around. It was a perfect place to sit and relax, rest your feet and have lunch. We began our meal with a quick appetizer. A colorful display of chips with spinach and artichoke dip.

My daughter and I both ordered a simple chicken Caesar salad, perfect for cooling off on a bit of a hot day. Marty ordered the salmon BLT with a side of fruit, and her husband tried the Turkey club sandwich. We found the food to be perfect for lunch. It was hot, so we didn’t try anything too fancy that day.

It was a pleasure to walk the street as well; in fact, we could have spent more time there, but we were off to other activities that day. Dawson’s is located at 1464 Main Street in Speedway, Indiana, conveniently located directly across the street from the most famous racetrack in the world, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
