Carmel-by-the-sea California

My favorite California town, which we have visited numerous times, is a beautiful little town called Carmel-by-the-sea. It is located on the Monterey Penisula south of San Fransisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.

The first time my husband and I visited, we were only there for a few days because we had started our vacation in Wine Country and taken a road trip down Highway 1, along the coast. What a treat this town turned out to be. The main street through the middle of the city leads to the Pacific Ocean. The streets are lined with many art galleries, antique stores, restaurants, and high-end boutiques. The town is just minutes from numerous famous golf courses and the 17 Mile Drive, a scenic drive that takes you through the golf courses and along the coast.

Our favorite way to start our day was to eat breakfast at La Bicyclette Restaurant. We’ve tried most places for breakfast and always come back to this restaurant. It fueled us for our antique and art shopping.

A painting from Classic Art Gallery and an antique mirror from Robertson’s Antique store is among the many fabulous things I have purchased.

Next comes lunch. The Treehouse Cafe is a charming restaurant with great food and a terrace view.

Then comes a walk down the hill to the beach—many quaint cottage-style houses along the way.

The beach has white sand and a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. You can also see the Pebble Beach Golf Clubhouse. Water is cold even in the summer(or it could just be that I am used to the Gulf of Mexico.)

We love to reserve a table at The Forge Restaurant and Bar for a romantic dinner. Due to the usually good weather, we love to sit outside. The food is always unbelievably good, and the wine list is impressive.

No matter how many times we go, my husband and I always enjoy our stay.
