Cactus Cantina

It was Cinco de Mayo, so we had to stop at Cactus Cantina. The Mexican grill was voted “Best Mexican Grill on the Gulf Coast” to celebrate! We were greeted at the front door with a tall, green, and fuzzy cactus with eyeballs. Then we sat down and looked right at the tall, cold, and exciting margaritas on the rocks that our neighbors were enjoying. They were called Cactus Margaritas. We had to give those a try.

It was a Fiesta for sure. We received the usual chips and salsa, then added a tasty avocado dip on the side. For an entrée, I ordered the California Burrito with grilled steak; then I added my two sides which got rolled into my burrito, then topped with cheese dip, avocados, salsa, and sour cream. I thought the rice and refried beans inside were a delight. Definitely a unique twist on the burrito.

Marty ordered the Grilled Shrimp Tacos topped with lettuce, pico de gallo, an avocado slice, and honey habanero sauce. She added the scrumptious Rotel cheese grits to her entrée, and BOOM! They were Fabulous! We had ourselves a great lunch! Finally, I made it to Cinco de Mayo on an actual day and with my bestie along with me.

We visited the Orange Beach, Alabama, location, but they do have other locations in Fairhope, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida. Six total locations, and it looks like a new one is coming to Foley, Alabama, soon, so keep your eyes open if you live close by and you love laid-back Mexican cuisine. We found the food to be fresh and interesting. We will definitely be back for the food and for another yummy cactus margarita.
