Beach Essentials

I spent most of my life near the Gulf of Mexico and have many fond childhood memories of going to the beach with my parents. They would load up the car with beach gear and a cooler full of food, and we would spend the day soaking up the sun and playing in the sand and waves. Now that I’m a parent myself, it’s up to me to pack everything my family needs for a beach day. Over the years, I’ve developed a list of beach essentials that I always bring along.

1. Sunscreen

When vacationing at the beach, it’s essential to wear sunscreen. It’s easy to get lost in the fun of sunbathing, but it’s important not to forget about the potential risks of unprotected skin. Sun damage can cause skin cancer, skin and eye damage, as well as weaken your immune system. Although everyone’s exposure to the sun is different, most people cannot achieve a healthy glow without consequences. Therefore, it’s crucial to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays with sunscreen.

2. Towels

When heading to the beach, it’s essential to bring along a nice, thick towel. It’s perfect for drying off after a swim or lounging on the sand. Personally, I enjoy draping a pretty beach towel over my chair for aesthetically pleasing pictures while soaking up the sun. When selecting a towel, look for one that is absorbent and quick drying. I particularly love towels with colorful patterns to add some style to my beach day.

3. Towel Clips

Do you struggle with keeping your beach towel in place while enjoying the sun and sand? Have you ever lost your beach bag in the sand? If so, you may find beach towel clips to be a helpful solution. These clips securely attach your towel to your chair or keep your beach bag from getting lost. By using these clips, you can enjoy a worry-free day at the beach.

4. Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is crucial when spending time at the beach. It’s easy to forget to bring water, and it is not always readily available on the beach. Although many people don’t drink enough water daily, it becomes especially important in this environment. Being dehydrated can be manageable while indoors, but when at the beach, sweating in the sun and being in and out of the ocean can quickly lead to dehydration. It’s easy to miss the signs of dehydration when your skin is wet. As a helpful tip, these are a few of my go-to water bottles for the beach.

5. Wide-Brim Hat

Protect yourself from the harmful rays of the sun with wide-brim sun hats. These hats are perfect for shielding your face, eyes, and hair from damaging UV rays, which can cause long-term harm. Women can choose from a variety of wide-brimmed sun hats, each with its own distinctive style and features. With a diverse range of styles and materials to choose from, there is a wide-brimmed sun hat that will suit everyone.

6. Sunglasses

When we think of sun damage, we often only consider the impact on our skin. However, the sun’s UV rays can also harm our eyes. It’s crucial to safeguard your eyes by wearing sunglasses that block 100% of both UVA and UVB radiation. Not only do they look cool, but they also prevent us from squinting in bright sunlight. Most importantly, sunglasses play a critical role in preventing UV damage to our eyes.

7. Beach Bag

A beach bag is a must-have accessory, whether you surf every day or only go to the beach a few times a year. It needs to be functional, durable, and stylish while carrying and protecting your personal items from the sun, sand, and water. Your phone, sunscreen, towels, electronics, change of clothes, and beach reads are all important, and they need to fit in one or two bags for easy transport.

8. Zip Top Bags

Zip-top bags come in various sizes and are useful for safeguarding your belongings from saltwater and sand. They are also helpful in case your sunscreen leaks. Additionally, they can be used to store wet swimsuits and prevent them from wetting the other items in your bag.

9. Waterproof Phone Case

It’s only natural to bring your phone to the beach, but we need to take steps to protect it from damage. The three main things to consider are the sun, sand, and moisture. We want to avoid overheating, sand getting in the ports and crevices, and water damage. By using a waterproof case, we can enjoy a worry-free day at the beach.

10. Kindle

Enjoying your book or e-reader by the pool can be risky. To avoid an electronic disaster, upgrade your reading experience with a waterproof option such as the Paperwhite or the Oasis. You can now read poolside or around water without any worries. The glare-free screen makes reading easy, even in direct sunlight.

11. Beach Blanket

This blanket has a water-resistant shell and can be conveniently folded into a tote with a zipper closure. You can adjust or remove the carrying strap to suit your needs. It also has deep storage pockets at the front and back. When folded, the product dimensions are 19 inches in width, 15.5 inches in height, and 3.1 inches in depth. When opened, the dimensions are 72 inches in length and 60 inches in width.

12. Beach Chair

Chairs are ideal for providing back support, which greatly enhances comfort. Compared to lying on the beach, sitting in a chair makes reading easier by keeping the sun out of your eyes and providing comfort. Beach chairs are easier to get in and out of than sitting on sand, and some high off-the-ground beach chairs provide even more ease of standing and sitting. Additionally, chairs can be adjusted to multiple positions, from sitting up straight to laying back, and they also keep you relatively sand-free. Lightweight and portable chairs are available, making it easy to carry them to the beach.

13. Bluetooth Speaker

If you plan on playing audio outdoors, especially at the beach or near the pool, you’ll want a waterproof Bluetooth speaker that’s easy to transport. While more expensive than wired speakers, Bluetooth devices are more convenient for their portability.

Make your beach day even better with these essential products. Hope you enjoyed this beach essentials list. Have fun, be safe, and above all enjoy your time at the beach!
